Text Box: On September 29th, Monica Shoemaker was driving down Park Street and witnessed a young boy walking down the street. She knew this young man had a disability and knew he should not be alone. Monica stopped and asked the boy where his mother was but he replied, “I want my dad.” He had left school and the mom did not know where he went. Monica asked him if he would get into the vehicle so she could take him to his mom. But he said no. Monica then asked if she could walk with him and he said yes. Monica called 911 so they could notify the mother where her son was. They continued to walk down the street until his mother arrived. WHAT AN AWESOME DISPLAY OF COMPASSION!!!!!!!!!

September 18th was the United Way Day of Caring. LOQW had signed up to receive volunteers to help get the Monroe City building spruced up for the Open House. We purchased paint and supplies to be ready for our volunteers. The day before the Day of Caring we received a call from the United Way office saying that they were sorry, but they didn’t have enough volunteers signed up so we would not be receiving any help. Jen, Todd, and Cathy decided that since they already had Text Box: they would have their own Day of Caring. They put on their paint clothes and PAINTED, CLEANED, and TRIMMED UP BUSHES for two days. Heather and the Day Program staff joined in to lend a helping hand. TEAMWORK IS A WONDERFUL THING!!!!!!!!!

We want to give special recognition to Clay Talton and the staff in Kirksville who worked hard to get the new agency sign purchased and put up.
GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!

In Monroe City, Seth Turpin has also worked hard to get up the LOQW sign put up on the garage. WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dediee recently supported one of her consumers to talk with State Representative Tom Shively about his motorized wheelchair that is in dire need of repair. Medicaid said it could be 4 months before they approve funding to get it repaired. With Dediee’s support the consumer told Rep Shively about this and he is going to look into the matter for the consumer. WAY TO GO THE EXTRA MILE!!!!!!!!!!!
